Room Cleaning PrioritiesProblem Identified
Wheels roll out of an OR earlier than expected with a to-follow procedure ready to go. Cleaning staff is working other rooms that are not in need of an immediate turn. The to-follow case is delayed causing surgeon and patient dissatisfaction. Solution Implemented Real-time patient tracking was implemented and used to automatically monitor when wheels roll out of an OR. Dynamic OR scheduling then assesses if a room needs immediate cleaning to accommodate a to-follow procedure. Cleaning priorities are continuously updated and made transparent to all housekeepers on touch screen displays placed throughout the perioperative area.
