Process AccountabilityProblem Identified
Employees fail to follow mandated procedures in an attempt to simplify processes and lessen their workload. The result is decreased patient safety and increased risks of regulatory reprimand and financial liability. Solution Implemented The real-time tracking of patients and certain staff, physicians, and critical equipment was integrated with the statuses of all cases across more than 20 different departments and groups including pharmacy, labs, blood bank, admissions, SPD, anesthesia, and housekeeping. A real-time, comprehensive schedule was then made transparent to all constituents responsible for complying with mandated procedures. In addition, visual alerts made key personnel aware of when certain critical events under their control were out of sequence.
