The real-time tracking of patients was activated upon check-in. In addition, each patients’ arrival and registration statuses were displayed in real-time on the OR schedule and made transparent to the pre-op nurses. Patients were then transferred from the waiting area immediately upon completion of registration and the first availability of a pre-op nurse.
Benefits Documented
The solution implemented has resulted in a 35% reduced in patient wait times and decreased case delays. Anesthesiologists acknowledge that pre-surgical anxiety has diminished. The results have directly improved patient satisfaction, patient safety, and operating efficiency.
