On-Time Starts
The real-time schedule was made transparent to inpatient floors and to all personnel coordinating a patient’s upcoming procedure. Personnel now track in real-time the status of the procedures scheduled for their patients. The click of a single button alerts everyone to prepare for the next procedure. The alerts are visible across the facility and require acknowledgement from those constituents playing a critical role in coordinating the patient’s care including floor nurses, transportation, pre-op nurses, anesthesia, surgeons, circulators, and housekeepers.
Benefits Documented
The implemented solution has contributed to a 50% reduction in to-follow turn-times and a more than 20% improvement in on-time starts. Clinical and clerical staffs have experienced significant decreases in inquiries, phone calls, and other disruptions due to patient transfers and other pre-operative activities. They have also acknowledged a reduction in stress and having more time to focus clinical attention on their patients. These results have directly improved patient safety, surgeon and staff satisfaction, and operating efficiency.
