The real-time OR schedule and alerts were made transparent to the blood bank. Blood bank personnel now track in real-time those OR cases requiring their attention. In return, the blood bank indicates, through a display icon on the comprehensive schedule, the blood status for each case in terms of In-process, Ready, or Pending.

Clinical and clerical staffs acknowledge that coordination and cooperation with the blood bank is improved and that surgical delays due to blood issues have been reduced. These results have directly improved surgeon and staff satisfaction and operating efficiency.
